How often do Credit Card Companies Report to the Credit Bureaus?

With debt rising in the United Kingdom, foreclosures still increasing, and job losses at an all time high it is imperative to keep credit scores high to help your situation should you need debt consolidation or other fixes. One way consumers try to keep their credit scores up is monitoring their scores and paying off their credit card balances. If you are asking when credit card companies report to the credit bureaus there is no easy answer.

While there are three major bureaus: TransUnion, Equifax and Experian they are all on their own time frames. Most credit card companies will report on a quarterly basis. This means every three months they tend to send in information to the credit bureaus. They will use a median answer when they report. In other words, some credit card companies will look to see if you had any default on payments. If so, they may report that all three months were in default. They may also forego reporting one month of defaults. The best credit card companies will report exactly what happened each month to be accurate. The only way to know if your credit scores will suffer is to ask your credit card company how often they report.
